Our Community Care Pastors, Leroy & Jean Jack, are responsible for the care and oversight of Southland's Small Groups & Pure Connection Groups. Small groups are designed to provide ministry to church members and visitors on a closer level apart from the larger congregational services on Sunday morning. Groups meet twice monthly on a designated evening to provide bible study, prayer, fellowship and pastoral oversight to a small body of believers. Each first Wednesday all groups meet at the church for a "Family Reunion" in celebration of accomplishments and growth among leaders and participants.
Providing a place for authentic relationship with God and man by:
-
Giving care to group members through identifying grace (The individual appropriation of the saving work of Jesus Christ followed by baptism as a believer. - Ephesians 2:8-9) and growth (The ongoing evidence of a changing life and pursuit of Christ-likeness. - 2 Peter 3:18) in a setting which promotes healthy group relationship (Participation in the Body of Christ and connection with others in significant relationships. - Acts 2:46)
-
Participants are equipped in practical application of biblical principles by identifying gifts (Serving within Christ's Body according to spiritual giftedness, passion, and personal style. - Romans 12:6-8) and encouraging those gifts to be used to serve in the church and community and to develop friendships with others who will become Christ-followers.
-
Small Group members are encouraged to use time, effort, and resources to be good stewards (Honoring God with one's material resources and supporting the local church using the biblical precedent of the tithe as a goal to reach or exceed as God prospers. - Philippians 4:11-19)
Each group is led by a trained and dedicated member who acts to encourage and facilitate fellowship among the members of the group. General oversight of the Small Group is entrusted to the Community Care Pastors who work to provide guidance to the group leaders. They provide oversight and direction to the leaders of the groups and are a direct link between the church leadership of Elders and Senior Pastor with the Small Group Leaders. |
