Southland Church History
Our Beginning
Southland Church was established 1997. At that time, God was gracious to us and moved on the heart of Des and Lee Toal to give the congregation the current 37,000 sq. ft. facility. In time, God provided the finances to renovate the facility, adding sanctuary, classrooms, offices, fully-equipped kitchen, dining room and fully-equipped science lab to accommodate not only the needs of the congregation, but Southland Christian School as well.
Meeting Real Needs
Part of the vision of Southland is to meet real needs in the community. Toward that goal, the church established the Clothes Closet in 1999 and a year later was able to fulfill the call to feed the hungry with the establishment of our Food Pantry. Both ministries are still in operation and ministering to hundreds of families each year. The Prison Ministry was the next outreach to come to fruition and is continuing to impact the lives of those incarcerated in area prison with the love of Christ.
Racial Reconciliation
Southland Church was established with an emphasis toward racial reconciliation; and we see a partial fulfillment of that goal with many cultures and races worshipping together and working shoulder to shoulder in leadership to do the work of the ministry in our area.
Our Future
As we look forward to our future, with Pastors Dell and Jill Young leading us, we can be sure that the heart of God will be fulfilled for this region through our commitment as congregation to fulfilling the Kingdom purposes of God.
